The transilvaniaclub.ro home page, with the club logo and the next event card

The home page of the new transilvaniaclub.ro website

Until now, everything the club did was scattered: announcements on Facebook, photos on Strava and Instagram, questions on WhatsApp. From today we have a place of our own: transilvaniaclub.ro. The site is in Romanian and English, and we built it with the same idea as our hikes: free, open to everyone and transparent.

Hikes, upcoming and past

On the Events page you will find the upcoming hikes, each with the route, the meeting point, the estimated transport cost and the sign-up form. If it is your first time, Your first hike explains step by step how a day in the mountains with us works, from signing up to the goulash at the end, and the FAQ answers questions about equipment, children, dogs, bad weather and cancelling.

We have also brought every hike so far onto the site, from the first one in June 2022: 145 events, each with its original description, and many with the distance and ascent measured on the day and photos from the hike.

21 trails, on the map

Under Trails we have collected the 21 trails we have walked more than once, grouped by mountain range: Trascău, Muntele Mare, Gilău, Bihor, Vlădeasa, Țibleș and the area around Cluj. For each one you will find:

  • a map with the track and the starting point;
  • the waymarks, in the order you meet them;
  • length, ascent and duration;
  • the difficulty level, on a scale from easy to difficult;
  • the club’s hikes on that trail and their photos.

An overview map shows all the starting points, coloured by difficulty.

Transparency

The club lives on donations, sponsorships and the 3.5% income tax redirection. On the Transparency page we publish, year by year, how much we received and what we spent it on, as totals only, without names. The Support the club page lists all the ways you can help.

What comes next

The site will grow with the club. We will add new trails, more detailed route descriptions, springs and sights, and a recap at the end of each season.

If you spot a mistake or have an idea, write to us. And above all, pick a hike and come to the mountains with us!
